Woohoo!!!  They say be careful what you wish for… And what I wished for came true!  And in true-blue Singapore style, in the heart of town, Raffles Place, it had to be a medley of songs…  One of our virtues, outdo others.

Heh!  What I thought was funny are those passerbys caught in the middle of the dancers… Watch carefully, you’ll see 2 guys weaving their way through the crowd…

Which mobile operator is behind this?  When the dancers dispersed they were all on their phone…

Indeed!  Rather than nursing a hangover, we got our asses out of the house and did something healthy instead.  We made plans last evening to go for a walk, LONG walk that kind, specifically the Southern Ridges Walk.

Yoda and I met at Seah Im Food Centre for a quick brekkie and started our little journey.

Our route tracked on Nokia SportsTracker

We made our way up towards the Henderson Waves from Morse Road up Mount Faber, which is not tracked on my GPS. So it was Mt Faber > Henderson Waves > Telok Blangah Hill Park > Alexandra Arch > Hort Park > Kent Ridge Park > Science Park I. We took in all about 2 hours in our moderate walking pace, and I had time to snap pictures along the way. :)  Photos are under cut.

Oh, I was working as I was walking…  Replied a couple of emails along the way…  Enabled by my trusty Nokia E75, my emails, camera, maps, GPS all rolled into one nifty device. LOVE!

:: An excuse to buy a pink top ::

Category : Musings

If  you haven’t anything pink in your wardrobe, these people will tell  you why you need to get one.

Here’s another shorter promo video. I actually like that version better, the lines are punchier and, aiyah, go see it yourself.  Also also, visit Pinkdot.sg and pledge your attendance.

I have quite a few gay friends, and I absolutely love them!  They’re all big-hearted and generous when it comes to giving and sharing with friends.  I enjoy the bitchiness that comes built-in as well, that makes the company all the more fun!

I’m gonna go hunt for my favie bright pink Harley Davidson top for the occasion.

16 May, 4.30pm, Hong Lim Park.

Hey!  I’m thinking they can do more online.  Don pink, take a picture of themselves and upload it to Flickr, tag as pinkdotsg.  And by the cut-off time, someone can collate all the images and make a collage out of all the contributions!  Neat isn’t it!

THANK GOD IT’S OVER! Was what I had been exclaiming since the end of the show.

But truly, I enjoyed myself. I may rant about how tedious the trainings had been, but once put in front of the 27,000 audience, I can’t help, but feel proud to have been part of the celebration.

I may come across as aloof, and couldn’t be bothered, but deep down inside I feel the Singapore Pride.  Against the odds of what many says of Singapore, and a handful of loose sand.  But the spirit, the teamwork displayed in the makings of the show is representative of what we can achieve. Together, towards a COMMON goal, we work towards, we CAN make it.  We HAVE made it.

Having taken part in NDP for the first time, I can say, the effort the organizing committee put in is indeed COMMENDABLE. The dedication, the forthrightness, is one that non-participants will NEVER fathom.

Will I do it the second time?  For now, I say, ONCE is good enough.  I want to make this a special memory, not to be surpassed and being made comparison to.

A good wrap to the evening couldn’t have been better than hanging out with my favourite band at my favourite joint. Oh, they did a impromptu National Day song too!  Enjoy~

:: Lost Souls of Pulau Ubin ::

Category : Musings

You would think we ran into some paranormal sightings.. No! I meant, SOLES, not Souls… Apologies for the pun.

We saw a few abandoned soles along the way up the hill that overlooks Ubin Quarry (I think.. ), and Candice jokingly mentioned that many have left their ‘souls’ in Ubin. We encountered one of our own. Jean’s right sole gave way, and the left one was gapping too… Being the resource person she is, she used the shoe lace to secure the sole in order to make the trip back down.

Typical of most cycling trips in Ubin, 3 of our bikes suffered from chain problems. One totally broke, whilst I managed to fix one. *Applause please*.

We got out of the island almost 6 in the evening. All 9 of us drained, from the day’s sun, and exhausted from all the cycling and walking.

4 of us shared a cab towards the west. Shortly after we dropped off Bert, at Zion Road, he called me. Asking if we saw what happened to him after he alighted the cab. Ha! He got cramps on both legs. So bad he had to sit on a stone slab along the walkway pavement to relief it. It was a pity we didn’t catch that sight.

It was a good trip! Even though tiring and hot… It’s really all about the company!
