AppleI guess some of you would have expected this coming from me some time.  I’m catching on really quickly and is falling into it.  Especially with some expert help in the form of a character from Sesame Street, Big Bird.  ;) Hur hur hur…

I started using this MacBook late March, to date it’s about 3 months.  Initially I was quite adamant that I won’t become a convert.  Afterall I’ve been a PC user since 1988, more than half my life.

Everything was awkward, especially the shortcut keys, I’m a hardcore keyboard shortcut person, I had to re-learn most of them.

Here’s a few of my favourite apps that I has helped inducted me into the world of Mac.  You can read more about them after the cut.

Apple Apps

These are not all of the apps I use, but suffice to say that… I AM a Mac convert. Yes I am.

I’ve been compensated by M1 with a $300 phone voucher cuz they forfeited my SunPerk points without prior reminder.  Almost 4,000 points, meaning almost $4,000 in 2 years, averaging $160 on my phone bills every month.  And I’ve been their customer since 1998.  Many have jumped ship, I stuck on, even upgraded my plan, in spite M1 slacking on their customer loyalty programmes.

So now’s the dilemma, which phone should I get?  I’m looking at all Nokia devices, no surprises there, E75, N79 and N86 8MP, or should I get the same N82 that I’m still lovin’.

UPDATE: Nokia E75 is in my hands now.

Nokia e75 N79 N86 8MP

These 3 new phones are all GPS, Wi-Fi, xHTML browser enabled, S60, only major difference is the camera/imaging quality.

  • Nokia N82 – 5MP camera, Carl Zeiss lens, Xenon Flash, up to 4GB microSD
  • Nokia N79 – 5MP camera, Carl Zeiss lens, LED flash, up to 4GB microSD
  • Nokia N86 8MP – 8MP camera, Carl Zeiss lens, dualLED flash, 8GB built-in memory, up to 16GB microSD, 2-way slider
  • Nokia E75 – 3.2MP camera, LED flash, up to 16GB microSD, full slide-out keyboard + keypad

Features I heart are in bold, features I’m not too pleased with are italised.

Before I did the F&C, I was towards to E75 already, the image quality is not all that bad cuz it has Autofocus and Macro mode just as well.  Until I saw the 8MP N86, I’m swayed.

The voucher is only valid for a month, so if N86 is only sales starting in July then it’s out of the options.  Any recommendations?

This is nothing new to most of us I’m sure…  I’m not talking about BB here.

I have been using Gmail App to read my mails, cuz the conventional email setup on Nokia phones can be a dread, and not all mailboxes are supported.  The Gmail App is very efficient, cost-wise especially.

I took on a job to produce a demo app for Nokia Messaging 1.1, so I had to try it out.  Got it installed on my N82, and it works!  The ad messaging for Nokia Messaging says 3-steps to set up your emails, I don’t dispute it.  I liked it, though I wasn’t crazy over the kiddish interface; the cute-looking icons.

But when I got my hands on the Nokia E75, I fell in love with it…  Both the phone and the email service.  Initially I didn’t fancy the form factor too much, it’s like the Dopod 838, with a slide out QWERTY keyboard.  Plus the dual keys for the 4 main buttons is rather cumbersome.

Nokia E75 with Nokia MessagingErr.. Maybe it’s me, I’ve never owned a E-series before, so I’m not familiar with the business-friendly features. But I have to say, I’m pleasantly impressed.  What I like most is the Homescreen notification when there’s new emails.  I never used the Active desktop display on my other Nokia phones, but no longer the case now.

I’ll know when new mails arrive at a glance, and  it takes just a click to get to the latest.  How convenient.

Now, how I wish I can sync the Nokia Calendar with my Google Calendar…  Just like how my Google Calendar syncs with my iCal.

Oh, I still have problem iSync the Nokia E75 with my Mac, it refuses to detect the device on bluetooth.

I need a new phone soon, the N82 is falling apart, I think E75 is it!  In black please… I hope Nokia won’t start charging subscription for using Nokia Messaging…  I really hope not.

We’ve kept going, we did our 4th run yesterday.

Not too happy with the pace, finished 8.97km in 78mins. I’m aiming to finish 10km in 75mins leh…

That means, more work to be done!

Going for a Muay Thai trial class tomorrow! Excited, yet nervous, cuz don’t know what to expect of such contact sports, if there’s sparring involved.  Never tried before…

Wooohooo!! Yes, 8.4km. A few of us from the office decided to train together, towards our goal to challenge ourselves to half-marathon in Dec.

Shaw Tower to Kallang WaterfrontLast night we did a loop from office to Kallang Waterfront, and all of 8.4km! Actually, I didn’t do all of 8.4km, I walked from 6.4km onwards, accompanying 2 other girls to walk back. I would have loved to run all the way, but being the “Da-jie” that I am… I care for the younger people.

I don’t have a Nike+, but I’m using the N82. With SportsTracker app, I could easily track my distance and route. I’m pretty impressed with it! It actually mapped the route onto Google Map after I upload it to the site lo! NICE… See see, the route map.
