Twas a very last minute arrangement, to join the extended family on a really short break. Bintan is typically not a place for older folks, but if there are other older folks they can do their things together, while us young people laze around under the sun, play volleyball.
3 families – my uncle and his 2 daughters, my youngest aunt with her son and daughter plus my parents and I, 3 from each family. It’s our first time going away with the extended family, family time and getting to know my cousins more.
Our family has the oldest kids, so I was the oldest cousin there, my cousins aged between 14 to 23. The highlight of staying in a villa is the attached buggy, which is the only form of 4 wheel vehicle I could drive without a driver’s license. Hahaha! We took turns going on it, even my dad. That’s also probably his first time driving a vehicle.
I managed to squeeze in some me-time away from the family. Chill out by the pool, swam 10 laps, read a little, went online for a bit, went for a morning run. Simple things delight me these days.
At night the adults played mahjong while we played Jenga. It got a little boring, so we added forfeit. This was what resulted at the end of the set.
Ha! Try spot the similarities between us in these faces… Hehehehe…
Like I’ve mentioned the buggy was the highlight, indeed. On the 2nd afternoon, just 3 hours before checkout, I needed to go back to the lobby for the Wi-Fi access. So I took the buggy out on my own, my Mac was the front seat passenger. It was a wet day, the road I was on was slightly down slope and bumpy. My slipcover slipped off the seat, so I wanted to stretch over to pick it up. Next thing I know… Bam! I was swerved to the left of the road, into a small drain by a covered drainage.
Thank God I was alone, no one else was hurt. The buggy only needed its left headlamp replaced, and I suffered only minor scratches and bruises. I should have taken a photo of the wreck. Oh well… I only have pix of my wounds to share now… Hehehehe…
