Christianity is not about which church we go to, who our pastor is, what the church preaches, the tithes that we make towards the church.  We all know this discussion can be never ending if it was so, and we tend to be defensive towards our own.

I’m reminded in the discussion with a friend that the fundamental of Christianity is our relationship with God, and He is the centre, not the differences of our church’s belief and teachings.

I chanced upon this while blog surfing and thought this was a most apt article that explains it all.

What If Jesus Meant All That Stuff? The title is a head-turner, very bold hor…

I can relate to the article personally, as I had been put off by some Christians before, and in fact was very anti towards the church and their believers.  But by His Works, I’ve come to understand as I learn more.

It’s not about our differences, but all about our centre.  We just need to align ourselves to Christ, and everything else will fall into their rightful places. :)

“If you want to have passion for Jesus, you have to study His passion for you….”

Through @gleniselwm’s twitter I came to know about @jaesonma.  From a bad egg roaming the streets getting into trouble to a pastor who reaches out to students in campuses and ministers to people in the community.  He’s indeed a testimony to God’s Work.

What I really really enjoyed is Jaeson’s initiative 365 Days of Love.  Really getting out onto the streets and share God’s blessings with anyone he encounters.   I’ve just watched a couple, but am already touched, especially his prayers for the total strangers he bumps into.  Eg: Giving a lady money for her bus tickets, the power of SMILE which I really enjoyed and many more wonderful stories…

2010 is the year of change for me, and I’m seeing it happening already, and looking forward to more good things to come.  I’m thankful for blessings from all around, especially friends, and in most unconventional way, through Twitter somemore… (Well, then again… digital is what I live and breathe)

If you’ve seen my FB status from last Saturday, “taking a little time out to meditate before I hit the SUBMIT button”. I did, and I heard it loud and clear.

I was on the brim of hitting the submit button on the form, but I thought perhaps I could add a middle name to my baptism name… I wanted a meaningful name, not just something fanciful. And also a little affected by the conversation I had with my mum the previous week, I just didn’t want to rush into it cuz of the good feeling I had in me after Grace Discovery on Friday.

I decided to put a bit more time to pray about it… And this was the message :

38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

So concise.  And so I did.

27 March 2010 is it.  Do join me in this celebration of my rebirth! ;)  Tea’s on me at Old Town Coffee!

The running track that is…

Joined the iRun group at Raffles Promenade for the first time today, and am impressed at how well-organised the group is!  I didn’t know this was a HPB initiative until I came home to google.  I always thought this was conducted by Team FatBird.  Not wrong still, I think the volunteer marshalls are from the Team.

The marshalls at various turning points keeps our time in check, motivating us along the way… And I’m very fortunate to have met a nice lady whom I can pace with for me to keep us with.  I’m really thankful for her, otherwise I would have fell back to my usual run-walk pattern.  I actually completed the 5km route in 35mins!  Way faster than my usual pace… :)

The icing on the cake was dinner at Santouka in good company!  Hehehe…

One of the little things that always delight me is my niece, well, not a thing, but still little… :)

They get very excited with birthday songs and blowing candles… This was a little birthday celebration for my sis after dinner last Wednesday… Kaley was awfully sweet… :)

She doesn't much effort to look cuteLittle feet reaching for the skies

This little doll, her linguistic skills surpasses our expectation.. Her grammar and vocab goes beyond what we have taught her, maybe all the telly she watches helps… We speak to her mainly in English and Mandarin, her Dad teaches her nuggets of Malay and Hakka, and she’s picked up bits and pieces of Hokkien and Cantonese from us.  It’s amazing how she uses the words/phrases she’s learnt.  The furthest she’s got to using a slang was ‘Oh shit’ which she pronounces as “Oh ship!”, since then I became more aware of the vocab I use when she’s around.

I shall try to take note of some of our conversations and put it down… I’m sure it’ll bring back fond memories when she grows up and reads this with me… :)

I decided to start a new category called ‘Blessings’ to remind myself how blessed I am, and to be grateful and thankful for everything, every person.

Some of you might be wondering why these days I’ve taken a whole new interest in spirituality.  Well, in fact it’s not new, I’ve been a believer since my early teens, I was in the Girls’ Brigade back in school days, spent 3 good years in Sunday School, and a non-commissioned officer in GB.

My walk in faith has been more than half of my life, but never been attending church regularly.  My peers back in GB days have mostly left the church, so I had no motivation to return to the home church.  And then I couldn’t care less about spiritual thingmajig cuz life was just too exciting to set aside time on Sundays.

I only seeked when I’m in desperate need of help, when I need sanity.  Other than that, I never took time to walk and grow.

It’s not that life is now less exciting, or I’m getting old that I’m turning back to faith.  But I realised that all these years, I’ve never been forgotten, I’m still cared for and watched over.

There have been too many amazing things that had happened to me all these years, just that I had failed to realise then. Especially in the form of guardian angels who have helped me along the way – work, home and life.  Backtracking might be all too draggy, cuz there’s just been too many, I decided to start the book this 2010.

I look forward to more good things, and all good things ahead.  And I trust that I’m always in good hands.
