She’s one really fun person to work with and hang out with. I would say she’s probably the sister that I never had. I’m sure you guys will meet her soon. Test posting from my mobile phone. Man! Do I missed blogging from my mobile. Since I switched to my own hosted wordpress M1’s mobile blogging cannot support anymore. This is an overwhelming weekend I must say… And as I’m writing this, various parts of my body are sore and aching. Ouch! Saturday afternoons are now for Dragon Boat, and yesterday was my 2nd training with the team. I’m in this with Nessie and Big Bird, Debster was the one that started it all. It’s great fun doing team sport with friends, and the bunch in Austcham are pretty cool people. And the best part of the deal is, at the end of each training, we get to chill out with some Golden Ale from Brewerkz… I’m sure by now you’d have guessed why we joined the team… Hehehehe…
Nessie and I put forward our first step of commitment to the sport, we signed up for the team membership. $50 per year, and each week, we only pay $10 instead of $15. Plus we get a Austcham cap and jersey. So you’ll be hearing more of Dragon Boat… After training yesterday, I came home for a shower and rushed to see my mum at her 1st opera performance. She has always been interested in Cantonese Opera, and in the recent years started to take lessons. Last night was her 1st performance, so we had to be there for her. My sister and I, with no less than 15 relatives and friends were there to support her. According to the others, my mum’s performance was the best of the 6 songs. :) The Austcham people are a bunch of crazy peeps, that’s what we like about them actually. The team is not just about trainings, but also having fun, social gatherings. Last night was Annual Steak Challenge. 14 men, 1kg of meat each. I missed the whole fun, only to join them when some were already mabok… The 2 hours and 2 Guinness Draughts were good time spent. Got to know the other paddlers better, still trying to remember their names… Heh! Now, the toughie, this morning’s Saucony Passion Run 2009. My first race of the year, with NO TRAINING, 15km. I’m glad I finished the whole distance, I contemplated dropping out halfway actually. Think I finished the race in about 2hrs 10mins. Gotta wait for the official timing, cuz the phone died on me half way at 9.35km.
This is Passion Run’s 3rd year, I’m rather impressed with the whole event, very well-organised. Especially the very orderly race pack collection at Novena Square, to the Race Tag that has our details nicely printed on the back, and the first time we’re seeing race chip straps instead of the conventional race chips. I think we’re going to see more of these race chip tags, makes sense to have these disposable ones, and these days RFID tags are getting cheaper. Alrighty, that’s all the updates for now, gotta go grab an early night to prep for the week ahead! Tags: austcham, dragon boat, passion run, rfidAfter almost 4 years, I’ve been downgraded…. From a queen size bed back to my childhood single bed. This is the same bed that I had been sleeping on when we moved in to this house, 23 years ago to be exact.
Along with the downgrade, I did a whole revamp as well, following simple feng shui principles. Firstly and most importantly declutter. I threw away lots of old stuff, like my IT books and notes from poly one big heavy box – those days still using Windows 95 lo… And old paraphernalia from like primary school and secondary school days, kiddish birthday prezzies which I really don’t know what I can do with them now. From this exercise, I also found the whole bag of mini polaroids that I was so into in 2001. Then, using the bedroom Luo Shu Square, I try to arrange things that best fit into the 9 sections. (UPDATED: The previous image wasn’t most accurate, this is a better one. THAT MEANS, now, I have my wealth & relationships corner the other way round! Eeks!)
I still have quite a fair bit of things lying across the room waiting for me to put them in place… Just bought some storage units from Ikea. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep everything away neatly. Let’s see, maybe I’ll do another update once I’m done with that to show how I made use of the storage units. I actually like that version better, the lines are punchier and, aiyah, go see it yourself. Also also, visit Pinkdot.sg and pledge your attendance. I have quite a few gay friends, and I absolutely love them! They’re all big-hearted and generous when it comes to giving and sharing with friends. I enjoy the bitchiness that comes built-in as well, that makes the company all the more fun! I’m gonna go hunt for my favie bright pink Harley Davidson top for the occasion. 16 May, 4.30pm, Hong Lim Park. Hey! I’m thinking they can do more online. Don pink, take a picture of themselves and upload it to Flickr, tag as pinkdotsg. And by the cut-off time, someone can collate all the images and make a collage out of all the contributions! Neat isn’t it! Tags: lbgt, pinkdot, pinkdotsg, singaporeToday’s the 31st of 2 friends who mean a lot to me. My bro, Noel the Beng, we used to go to Sunday School together and now we go drinking together occasionally. The other is my best-est friend during poly days, Cindy, otherwise Amanda. Amanda, Jason and I are nicks we adopted those days, cuz we enjoyed reading the 8Day’s Last Page column by Jason Hahn, who shares an apartment with 2 bimbotic girls, Amanda & Saffy. The column is still running today.
While I sent Noel my birthday greetings, I’m reminded of losing a friend in Amanda. It’s been since 2003 we’ve ever spoke or met. Amanda and I never fought when we were in school, we were always seen together in a group. Skipping school, having long lunches in A&W at the zoo, sweeping birthday discounts in Giordano, totally into tanning, hanging out together with our boyfriends then. It had been all a misunderstanding that started with me. It was the phase were I was hanging out almost EVERY night cuz of an ‘interest’. I wanted to hang out with the interest, so I always found excuses to NOT meet them, thus neglecting my friends. Amanda was the gel between me and the interest, he was bestie with her man then. I was too absorbed into pursuing my interest and neglected all my friends, and that led to the misunderstanding I was on their side in hiding some dark secrets from her. I should have never got involved with that interest, some guys are better kept as friends than lovers. Eventually I did go out with the interest, but it was short-lived and it landed me in a financial rut that has been a burden to until recently. One of those classic questions, “If you could, what would you want to re-do in your life?”. I would say, I’ll like to re-live y life from New Year’s Day 2003. I’m not sure if she’ll ever read this. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Girl! It’s been so many years. You made the better part of our days during and after poly. What are fond memories without the people whom you can reminisce with, at least for me. Tags: apologies, birthday, forgiveness, friends, misunderstanding, regretsAll this working from home has made me a fat sow. I have access to food too easily, and been eating at odd hours in the day. A decently stocked fridge and dry foods cabinet is such a luxury, or for the lack of better work, pure evil. I can work with any ingredients I can find. I’ve been trained by mommy that way. Mom cooks for her friend’s 2 boys every Sunday, so this Sunday, I held the fort cuz she wasn’t feeling too well. From ransacking the fridge, I found some prawns, fish fillets and frozen oysters. I wanted to use that can of opened tomato puree, so there goes, my signature Seafood Pasta. Better still, there’s a piece of 200g steak from almost 2 months ago deep frozen in the freezer. That made the mains. Oh, the steak was for personal consumption not for the 2 boys…. Heheheeh…. ![]() Over-sumptuous Sunday brunch Mom went out tonight for her opera class, leaving the 2 kids home alone without dinner. Yay! Can cook again. Roasted eggplants and tomatoes pasta is it. Found a recipe online, under 45mins, a decent meal with Campbell soup. Hahahah… We LOVE eggplants, I like them microwave steamed, drizzled with some shoyu and sesame oil to taste. Yums!
My bro liked it enough to go for a 2nd serving… Woohoo!! If I’m gonna do this again, I’ll cube the eggplants into bigger pieces to get more roasted flavour, and use Sherry vinegar instead of Red wine vinegar. A need to stock up different types of vinegars… I want balsamic vinegar also… Good for salad dressings… Tags: cooking, eggplant pasta, recipesNot sure how many of you is encountering problems with Feedburner with your Wordpress. I realised my RSS feed is no longer serving through Feedburner. I tried re-installing the Wordpress plug-in, Feedburner Feedsmith, and input the new Feedburner RSS feed URL, doesn’t seem to work. When I click on the RSS link on the Address bar, it sends me to my default WP RSS URL, not the Feedburner URL. Can anyone else try, and let me know what you get when you click on RSS on your Address bar can? I want to use Feedburner so that I can track how many of you little buggers are reading off RSS. :P Well, you’re missing out on sidebar updates if you just read off RSS you know… Like new uploads to Ovi Share, my latest hit favourite, new blogroll… And Technorati also don’t work for me, tried claiming my blog but it takes EONS to “verify” my URL.
